Danish style

When you think of refreshing, summer home, do you typically think of a home in Denmark?

Probably not,

but you might after seeing this bright and refreshing summer home.

Danish style is typically modern, with small scale, minimalistic accessories and clean lines.
Not a lot of clutter or fuss.
Nature plays a big part in the homes of Danes.
Homes full of family, pets and love.
Did you know that Danes regularly hold the top rank as the happiest people in the world?

Who wouldn't feel happy living in this space, surrounded by fun traditions, loving people and loads of natural light?!

Do you think this is just another random post of mine where I found a pretty place in the blogosphere and decided to share it with you?

Well think again my friends. ☺

My excitement got the best of me so what better way to share it with you than via beautiful interior spaces? Our summer travels are taking us to Europe later this week and Denmark is one of our stops.

We will stay in Copenhagen for a few days, then journey to the summer home of some of our dearest friends (met them here in Houston but they're from Denmark), where we'll stay for a few more days. They tell us it's rustic and basic, with no television or wireless internet. Only the crashing waves, brisk, clean air, and lots of board games and books. They're saving some of the mid-summer traditions for our arrival and participation (read about it here).

YIPEE~ I can't wait !!!

I'll try to post a few images during our journey.

**Farvel mine venner! **

(goodbye my friends)

Tiny's no. 5

West U's own Tiny's no. 5 has looked ready for business for a few weeks now, but the soft opening has just gotten into full swing this week. They aren't offering the full menu yet and the tables are still lacking the trademark white hydrangea. But the stained concrete floors, white washed wood beams, gray wicker chair adorned, zinc lantern filled, California *chic* eatery manages to beckon the public to come on inside!

Laurie and I had dinner with the kids here last evening and I snuck a few pictures for you.

The front entrance. It was nice to have full service available here, unlike the original
Tiny's where the line to order food tends to stretch into the parking lot on weekend mornings.

We sat on the patio as it was a bit cooler out last evening. The big grassy quad is always so appealing to kids, but we've learned the hard way that children are not welcome to frolic or even sit on the grass at either location (right Elz?!!).

I'm dying for just one, let alone the seven sunburst mirrors lining the walls near the restroom area.

Instead of the standard 'ladies and gents' on the restroom doors, they so cleverly have them entitled ~ William and Kate.

Cute lanterns and striped awning. The pineapple fountain right out front.

A blurry shot of the main dining area.

A separate room for private parties.

The service was very quick and efficient and the food was yummy. I don't recall seeing prices on the menu but I do remember the slight sting I felt when the bill came. ☺

They don't have any signage up yet but if you follow the crowds in West U this summer you'll find it! There seems to be plenty of parking, for now anyway.
May your weekend be filled with delicious food and drink in the company of good friends and family!

Drifting~

~into la la land.

I snuck out of my little bubble filled with 10-hour-work-days-and-running-from building-to-building-in-the-Texas-med-center-while-trying-to-stay-afloat-filling-two-roles-at-work...

...and this is where the 10 minute escape lead me:

My first stop is always my favorite blogs {sorry, no time to leave comments this week}, and then it's on to pinterest. After pinning an image and going back to 'everything', there's always a whole new page of images. People must be loading pics like crazy!

Where is your first stop when you sneak in an internet escape trip?

Purple flowers...

...in a room,

purple flowers are in bloom.

They are so pretty standing there,

they are so pretty everywhere.

They make me smile from ear to ear,

purple flowers are good, and this is clear.

hee,hee.

My little sun kissed, water logged kiddo wrote this silly poem.

Hope you spoiled the daddys in your world yesterday.

Happy new week.

A sweet escape

Want to sneak away from work early today, load up the car and meet me here? Come on, let's just do it!

We'll arrive late this evening of course, but we can sleep in tomorrow and lounge by the pool all day.

We can have omeletes and mimosas here for brunch mid morning.Once we've had our fill of lounging poolside, we'll gather round the island in the evening. We can snack on imported cheeses and sip prosecco while the lobsters steam and fresh veggies grill outside.
After dinner on the patio we might venture into the living room to play board games or watch a movie.

We'll be so relaxed that turning in early is a certainty.

I'll even let you have the master suite! I'm sure I'll find a similarly comfy~chic guest room up here somewhere.

We'll awaken on Sunday to sun-filled rooms and bright blue skies above.

We can visit the neighboring horse farm before we gather our things,

lock up the house,
and head back home.

So, what time shall we meet? ☺
