PROGRESS:: and a sneak peek

Thanks to all of you who responded to Friday's post about my sun room floors...this is what our high traffic area looks like today {ok, well not really today~ if you looked in there right now you'd see a sick kiddo snuggled up in that chair with the ottoman, home sick today missing her last day of kindergarten!}.
I ♥ the floors and can't wait to give you all the details. We are still scrambling to get this room put back together and of course this has turned into multiple new projects for me, but once completed I will share it with you.

A peek at my new mirror and revamped botanical frames and arrangement:

I'm happy to say that there will be no projects going on anywhere in/around casa Morning T this long holiday weekend. We are visiting family on the east coast and soaking up every ounce of down time!

Empty bowls

We attended this event last weekend and all ended up feeling more a part of our community~in the ♥ of this huge city of Houston.

There are tables full of beautiful, hand made, empty bowls. You simply {NOT} pick out a bowl.
All made by local Houston artists. They have booths set up outside where they work away, making more bowls.
Once you make the difficult decision of choosing a bowl, you pay $25 and you receive tickets for a light lunch of soup, bread and a drink~ all courtesy of our own Whole Foods.
The $25 donation goes to the Houston Food Bank.

It was a hot day but the surroundings were beautiful, complete with gardens, ponds and live music.

Not only did my little one get to pick out her own bowl...She got to participate in something that will help those in our city who aren't always able to put food on their table.
She has a big heart and loves helping people.
She's little, but I think she understood.
We are extremely lucky to be able to put food in our new bowls.
And fortunate to be able to help someone put food in their bowls or on their table.
Giving feels good and our new bowls have found a happy new home.

Nest

Thanks to a lovely reader, a new home decor~accessory store was brought to my attention and of course I had to check it out.

NEST: located at 3637 West Alabama, suite 160 {at the corner of West Alabama and Timmons}.

They are open Monday-Friday from 9:30 to 1:30. If you're in the area you must check out this store. It's small, but packed with fabulous stuff and she's expecting new arrivals daily!

Please excuse the iphone photos...

Industrial *T*

Look what was waiting on the back porch for me when I got home today.

My long awaited b~day gift from my sweet hubby. He picked this out himself, but broke down and showed me pictures because he was worried that it was too contemporary. But look at the rusty, chippy edges, and even the mirror itself is aged. This is actually an antique (for whatever that's worth), but it has an industrial edge to it that I love!

Bravo Mr MT~ I approve. Now if this big bad boy didn't weigh 45 pounds you'd return home to a newly arranged dining room tonite. But I'm going to need your help hanging this. I had a hard time even getting it into the house!

Looks like I have another project to add to the list this weekend. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts on our sun room floor. If the concrete is in good shape I'm hoping we can just stain it and put a nice big sea grass rug on top, but I'll keep you posted.

Hugs~

Behind the scenes~

YAY~ we made it to Friday! Not much to post about today so I'm leaving you random images from this past week.
My not-so-big purchases from last weekend's Urban Market:

More purchases from Linsey's fabulous open house yesterday:Grapes growing on the vine in our backyard:
This sucker has really filled in over the last few weeks:
A little monkey climbing the walls waiting for her daddy to hurry home from his trip {isn't this a little creepy?}:
You can clearly see here why the sun room isn't a focal spot for blog posts.

We are ripping out this carpet (hopefully this weekend!!) and debating what to do with the floors. It's cement underneath and the sun room was added on so it's got quite a slant. Pergo floors? Stained cement? This is a high traffic area and the little one's tv and play room. Think muddy doggie prints on the floors, red jello stains, and water stains from a certain hurricane that passed thru 2 years ago.

Your thoughts on a budget friendly, DIY flooring for this space would be greatly appreciated!

Bon week~end to you my friends.

Solitude

Life is crazy right now.

It's a whirlwind going on out there with the school year ending, finalizing summer travel plans, and things at work are chaotic.

Do you have a special place where you go when things get out of control? Not a real place, but a mental retreat.

My special place is outside, where things are green and pretty.

There is nobody around....just me, myself, and I ~ caught in a full embrace by mother nature.
If I really try, I can take a peek and see my loved ones in the distance. They are out there, and knowing this helps me relax a bit more.

When times get tough, I retreat to my special place. It's here where I envision a leisurely stroll through the gardens and finding a table tucked away in a secret garden where I can sit and sip my favorite wine and b.r.e.a.t.h.e deep.

This is one of those times. So until the world stops spinning {or I'm able to swindle an extra 5 hours to add on to each day}, if you see me looking a bit far off and crazy misty-eyed, this is where I am.

I know many of you are here too, because we, as bloggers, as women, like to juggle and take on a bit more than we can handle right? Most times we manage it just fine, but other times we need to go to that special place...
